Axapta has become an indispensable tool for the steel company Scan Press A/S.
Scan Press started to use Axapta on 1 May 2003 after almost 20 years with an MRP system, which had become obsolete. The choice fell on Axapta because it was the one most suited to the company's size and was widely used.
Preferably a standard solution
“Basically we preferred a standard solution, and we also purchased a preliminary project to see if we could manage with the Axapta standard, but in some regards our needs were wider. We made our purchases based on the motto “need to have" – and in some cases “nice to have” when this was financially feasible,” says Lars Ravn Nielsen.
“We are not IT experts, but IT users. Therefore we must have a supplier who understands our needs and who is capable of transforming our needs into useable solutions. We have no IT department ourselves and operations are outsourced, so today Columbus runs our IT platform including the mail server and the ERP server and attends to backup every day.
“We are happy for the operating agreement, and things work perfectly. We were initially somewhat sceptical when changing server. From our old system we were used to an AS400 platform, which was reputed to be among the most reliable, but looking back now, we can see there have been no problems with the new server."
In safe hands
In everyday work it is our finance manager Ingrid Nielsen who deals with contacts with Columbus, and she is extremely satisfied with the collaboration. Things are now stable and the frequent turnaround in consultancy staff is now a thing of the past. Ingrid Nielsen has a permanent contact person at Columbus who based on the description of needs finds the most suitable consultant for each task.
Lars Ravn Nielsen says, “We can feel that Columbus consultants have long experience of Axapta and know how problems can be solved. They also seem to have less turnover in personnel than is common in the sector. We have the impression that they have some good and well-anchored teams, and as a customer you feel secure in their hands.”
